Upholstery is something that is very often overlooked; surprising seeing as we spend so much of our lives sitting or lying on it. It is also one of our larger expenses in life after the house and car.
With that in mind here are a few reasons why you should clean your Upholstery…
- Maintain its appearance and keep it looking nice and help it last longer.
- Dirt and grime build up especially on the arms and behind the head of your Sofa and Chairs usually from natural oils and sweat from your body. Over time this ingrains into the furniture and makes it look tired and worn
- Family Health
- Pathogens and dirt build up over time and can pose a health risk to you and your family.
- Bacteria can get deep into your furniture and cause unpleasant odors.
- A good clean can help with problems such as mold, dust, mildew, and allergens which in turn improves the air quality in any home and help with breathing problems.
So what does the ATR Upholstery Cleaning process involve?
Survey carried out
Firstly we will conduct various tests to establish what material we are dealing with. We will also carry out swab tests to ensure there are no colour bleed or crocking issues preventing us from carrying out the clean. This process is essential to ensure the correct method and chemicals are used. If necessary we will carry out a ph test to test that the Upholstery is as close to neutral as possible. Finally we will place all chair, sofa legs etc on plastic blocks to make sure the moist upholstery doesn’t mark the carpet underneath.
Explain the survey results to you.
We will manage your expectations with regards to any stains we feel there is no realistic chance of removing. We will also advise on estimated drying times. A specific quote will be given for you to agree to.
Start the Clean
We will wear overshoes whilst in your house or premises, and put down coverings on which any cleaning equipment will be placed. The appropriate cleaning method will be used as decided by the survey results.
Make sure you are happy and accept payment
After the work is complete we will advise on drying times, dispose of extracted water in your toilet (this is a legal requirement to ensure it goes to the sewer system). finally when you are happy we will accept payment in cash or card via a card reader.
What machines do we use?
For Wet Extraction we use
Powr-Flite PFX1085EAW-2UK Extractor – The Super Charged Portable Extractor with more Power than any other system currently available in the market today!
This ensures that the drying time is brought down to a minimum.
We also use commercial grade Sebo upright Vacuum Cleaners and professional Agitators for use with Low Moisture methods.
How often should I get my Upholstery cleaned?
We would recommend every 12 months to extend the life of your furniture. Most Sofas get a lot of use over the year and soil build up is common
Are you insured?
Yes we have £5,000,000 of Public Liability Insurance bespoke to the Carpet Cleaning industry. Please ask if you would like to see the certificate.
What kind of Upholstery do you clean?
We can clean Sofas, 3 Piece Suites and Upholstered Chairs and Cushions.
Are the removal of stains guaranteed?
Stain removal cannot be guaranteed because of the number of variables involved. Some stains are of considerable age and permanent damage has already been done. Extensive use of home remedies can actually make matters worse. We will advise and manage your expectations at the survey stage and ask you to sign a waiver if you would like us to attempt to remove the stain.
How long will the drying time be?
This will vary depending on the method used. If time is of the essence then we would advise a Low Moisture method although this will not provide a completely deep clean. The machine used for Wet Extraction is the best in the market and brings traditional drying times down considerably.
